Greetings Beautiful People, 

It is my prayer that as you read this, you are blessed and highly favored. I had some time to spare, and I wanted to come and share some thoughts. I’ve been communing with the divinity inside of myself, and it has been a wonderful journey thus far. Life is difficult, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. 

Last time, I left you with my 2 cents I was pondering the topic of unity. Why do we need it and why do we achieve it. Well, good people, I promise, if you ask the cosmos will answer. I had the chance to go to a forum on forming relationships as afrikan people, and the first topic that they addressed was an idea called, ‘functional unity’. Here’s a link that explains a bit more (http://www.unity4power.org/functional-unity.html) but it’s basically a methodology which promotes the use of unified blacks to gain economic, political, cultural and social control of their own lives. Sounds excellent right? 

But for us to gain this control, it calls for a mass organization and unification of black people. In my daily living, I’ve found it harder and harder to unify my own people. In fact, sometimes I find it difficult to have a conversation with people. It’s like this one episode of ‘The Boondocks’. Riley is trying to join the Lethal Interjection Crew (a band of pop cultured rappers) and he has to pass a series of tests. One is a ‘test of tastes’…the leader, Thugnificent plays a new singel for the group, and asks their opinion. Everyone loves the song, except one person, is suggest that the ‘bass could be a lil bit louder’. Thugnificent calls him a ‘motherfuckin hatin ass nigga’ and tells him to leave. Thugnificent then looks to Riley and asks him, ‘so lil nigga, what you think?’ Of course he agrees with the majority and is eventually allowed into the crew. My point? Today, disagreement is viewed upon as sin. If you disagree with the masses, you’re a trouble maker, a hater, or just annoying — the same tactic of propaganda that fascist governments use. Those who disagree are silence, permanently. 

I’m saying all this to say, that if we really really want to progress as people, we need to communicate and CHALLENGE each other. We can’t be afraid of criticism, even if it’s of something that is near and dear to us. It is through challenge that we progress and learn. No one person sprang from this ground on their own, you came from the womb of a woman, who procreated with a man. People NEED each other, and we need to grow.

i’ve got to write something…

yes! I’ve got to write something or I may explode soon. but there is so much to say….

i need to keep this post concentrated on one topic, or it may go on into infinity. 

I guess I’ll start with unity…it is the first principle of the nguzu saba. so why not? 

What does it mean to unify??? To me…it’s simple. It means coming together, right? Well, if it’s so easy, then why is it something that we need to stress. Why is it so difficult for people to operate in groups? why is it so difficult for us to maintain our community? Why is it so hard for people to maintain relationships? Why are we so fractured? 

Maafa…..

But what does unity really mean? And how do we get to it? I could begin talking about the road to unity. But honestly I’m still working myself. All I know, is that for a full life, UNITY is essential. No man sprang up from the earth. We all come from those who came before us. 

Well, I’ll meditate on this for a while…

what to say????

I’m definitely not sure what to write…..it’s been so long since I’ve blogged.  It’s been a rough month, but I’m making it through. I know….i know….i’ve abandoned this blog, it’s the Gemini in me. I’ve got the attention span of nothing…i’m working on it. I’m working on a lot of things, trying to be better. it’s a new year! that’s what you’re supposed to do, right? well…no matter what time it is, we all must strive to continue to improve ourselves. an artist’s perfection is never reached.

speaking of a new year….it’s 2012. I think i’ll record how crazy people begin to act. If anybody talks to me about a mayan calendar…please be prepared to give me a run-down of their perceptions, cultures, and history…i’m just saying….

today looks bright, and the future looks even better. i’m thankful to my family, friends, and those who watch over all of us for a life that is beautiful. It may not be perfect, it is damn sure difficult, but It’s mine. It’s my duty to live this life that was granted to me, and i plan to :)
